Vision

The CSVGC Committee envisions a global society where there is peace, compassion, love,
friendliness, enthusiasm, a feeling of belonging and oneness with all life, as well as
commitment, service and responsibility. These spiritual values are common to all faiths,
cultures and traditions, are universal in nature and transcend the boundaries of religion and
of nationality. These imperatively need to be reawakened, nurtured and sustained for the
advancement of Humanity. The Committee wishes to facilitate dialogue by bringing people
together to inspire an increased awareness of individual and common responsibilities in
order to address global concerns and universal values.


Mission and Goals

The CSVGC Committee aims at enhancing the spiritual dimension in all areas of the United
Nations agenda and of public policy.

The Committee seeks to make a contribution to the spiritual dimension, values and rights
based perspectives of the work of the United Nations agenda, by:

» advocating in priority the “Right for Peace” including the right to lead a spiritual or
religious way of life in full respect of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well
as the establishment of both
1. a “UN Decade for Interreligious Dialogue for Peace” and
2. a “ Spiritual Forum at the UN” with other UN based organisations and NGOs.

» participating in the work of the United Nations and in international conferences;

» encouraging a spiritual perspective within the international community, facilitating
written and oral contributions for inclusion in United Nations declarations and
programmes of action relating to spirituality, values, justice and peace at all levels;

» supporting and exploring the link between science and spirituality, by presenting
evidence and value based knowledge to demonstrate the causal effect of the spiritual
dimension on personal and global change;

» organising events in order to initiate dialogue and action between religious and spiritual
dignitaries, speakers from United Nations specialised agencies and programmes, UN
missions, Non governmental organizations (NGOs), faith-based groups,. civil society,
private sector, media, etc;

» publishing a series of documents on seminars and meetings, thereby demonstrating a
commitment to keep the knowledge
