Membership
The Committee membership consists of NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and members of the Conference of NGOs (CONGO) at the United Nations in Geneva who are willing to include the spiritual and values dimension in their work and policy. Participation is open to other international governmental or non-governmental organizations as well as civil society ind ividually or collectively wishing to participate and aspiring to the same goals. Links and collaboration with other NGOs and UN organizations in New York and Vienna are also being established.


 

What is a NGO Committee on Substantive Issues?

A NGO Committee on Substantive Issues is a NGO Committee that is established under the auspices of the Conference of NGOs (CoNGO) in order to promote and facilitate collective work among NGOs on substantive issues related to programmes, policies and activities of the United Nations system. These committees may organise activities which provide opportunities for NGOs to debate such issues, to articulate their views, to advocate positions with respect to UN resolutions or programmes, and to mobilize public opinion.

Membership Rules and Procedures

Full Membership in the Committee consists of NGOs having consultative status with the United Nations through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and CoNGO membership who are willing to include the spiritual and values dimension in their work and policies.
